What We Do
Visiting Auls/Villages
Organizing visits to the villages in Kazakhstan that includes interactive workshops with child psychology expert and an SEL expert to explain the importance of social-emotional skills; an English language teacher to show how to support children’s learning; and a successful role model from a rural Kazakh upbringing to inspire and provide a personal example of how these skills can be useful.
Digital Education Platform
In August 2021, we built a low-fidelity prototype for English-language courses with built-in SEL framework components appropriate for local context: through user testing with at least 50* students during Summer 2021 (measuring student engagement and iterating for language level adjustments). Social-Emotional Learning
Toolkit For Teachers In Kazakhstan
Our target demographic is students that are 10-13 years old . The developmental stage of children in this age range provides the foundation to support strengthening their self-regulation in high school through stronger SEL skills, building resilience.
This age range offers them the ability to mentor one another as well as the next generation of learners, resulting in a cascade motivational effect, in turn making them more motivated in their academic achievement.
This toolkit will be developed based on the experiences and needs of rural teachers, complementing and enhancing their existing classroom materials. Within this toolkit, we aim to create resources that simplify the teaching and learning of English, promote social-emotional learning in the classroom, and introduce the latest technological tools for teaching and educating children.
